The marriage has a special place in every society. The Engagement Ceremony is one of the Pre Wedding Ceremony in which the couple exchanges rings with each other. It is also known as Ring ceremony.
This is an important pre-wedding ritual in Indian cultures where the bride and the bridegroom-to-be come face to face and are formally engaged to each other by their families. Since old times, engagement ceremony has been organized so that the couple and their families could be closely familiar with each other before marriage. In some cultures the engagement precedes the actual wedding by as much as a year whereas in others they are held a day or two prior the actual wedding. Exchanging of rings is not mandatory in all cultures.
